My PADI freediving courses usually have the same 2-day structure: theory and confined water session with a brake in-between - for the first day, and two open-water session with a brake – for the second day. The theory could be covered also before the course by interacting online with the PADI Freediver Touch. You may go online to complete the Knowledge Review and Exam for each course level.

Maximum number of Students

  • Confined Water – 8
  • Open Water – 4

For the PADI Freediver course, only one student at a time may descend deeper than 6 metres. For the Advanced and Master Freediver courses, only one student at a time may descend, unless acting as an escort buddy for the final portion of another diver’s ascent. The maximum depth for an escort buddy is 20 metres.

For the Advanced Freediver course, all recreational freedive descents deeper than 18 metres must be accompanied by the instructor. For the Master Freediver course, all recreational freedive descents deeper than 18 metres (Dive One) and 24 metres (Dive Two) must be accompanied by the instructor.

Safety Rules

For dives 20 metres or deeper I provide safety lanyard as mean of retrieving a diver to the surface, in addition to my ability to rescue the diver. A device for summoning aid at the surface (whistle, marine radio, etc.) usually is immediately available.

For static apnea, the site must have water shallow enough in which to stand, with support available upon standing. For dynamic apnea, the maximum depth below the diver is 6 metres (for Master Freediver – 10 metres).

When possible, we choose sites where the maximum depth is only slightly deeper than the training dive depth. A site must be free of entanglement or obstruction issues with the drop line or safety lanyard.

I conduct PADI Freediver program open water sessions only during daylight hours.

Depth Ranges

  • Basic Freediver – 6 metres maximum
  • Freediver – 10-16 metres, 10 metres constant weight required minimum
  • Advanced Freediver – 16-24 metres, 18 metres constant weight required minimum
  • Master Freediver – 24-40 metres, 27 metres constant weight required minimum
  • Maximum depth for freedivers younger than 18 years is 15 metres.
  • In water colder than 10°C, we reduce all depth ranges, limits and requirements by 3 metres

Certification

A diver earns certification at each respective level by demonstrating mastery of all knowledge development and skill development performance requirements. As an instructor I must ensure that all requirements are met. Within seven days (unless a delay is caused by the student) of finishing all course requirements, I will have the certification cards processed.
